What ammo should I use to hunt with his cal.22 gun? We took the challenge! I and my colleague went to the nearest dealer and bought the variants of cal.22 ammunition they had in stock. We even took us numerous uel other .22 bullets which we used a lot of target practice.
We tested all the ammo and weapons on a 80 meter normal inskjutningsbana. The different ammo we went through was: Brand Type Grain FPS MPS CCI Standard Veloccity 40 1070 326 CCI Mini-Mag High Velocity 40 1235 376 CCI Mini-Mag uel Copper-plated hollow point 36 1260 384 RWS R100 40 1122 342 Winchester uel Subsonic lead round nose 40 1065 324 Winchester Copper plated hollow point high velocity 40 1435 437 Provincial Training 2 40 1066 325 Elay CLUB 40 1085 330 Laupa Pistol King 40935285
The goal of the exercise was to find a brand that we are going to hunt with as good accuracy as possible as far away as possible, ie as high muzzle velocity, flackast possible trajectory with as little scatter uel as possible.
We shot 5 shots with each spot with both rifles. Of the brands that did best were the test twice to confirm uel the result. We will not disclose all the data for each brand but instead comment on the diversity and extremes. Out of those who went over 342 m / s so was the RWS went thickest. Of those who went over 342 m / s was Winchester Copper plated hollow point high velocity that spread the most. Here you can say that you could not even determine uel a sweet spot! Both Winchester ammunition floated plentiful. The runner-up in the test was CCI Mini-Mag High Velocity. This shot almost as tightly as test winner but went to couple of clicks to the left. The test winner was CCI Mini-Mag Copper-plated hollow point. This had a flat trajectory and a really nice sweet spot.
One can summarize this not so scientific uel but still pretty indicative test that using the test first and 2nd to hunt with, but with some compensation sideways, you can make do with these two in most situations one needs . Hollow point or not!
Becoming a hunter can be something quite natural for some and something big, exciting and new for others. The thing that some people are born to be a long and complicated journey for others. For me, one can say that it is more or less variegated :)
I also did this test a few years ago. Would probably have to do it partly because I have more ammossorter in the cupboard now and partly because I changed 22-a ..... Well, here you can read my test: http://lipoptena.blogspot.se/2010/12 / 22LR-ammo.html
"Traditionally hunted magpie in Europe, where it is said to cause damage to farm animals or populations of birds and small game. Such an effect has so far not been identified in scientific studies. [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] In Europe killed uel annually around 1 til 1 million magpies [17]. "
In order for us cause magpies much trouble and found that complicates house is a great sacrifice for all the misery that a magpie can think of. I personally have nothing against them and would not hunt them for mere pleasure!
We are group of friends with families who have some special interests but which is primarily directed against hunting, nature and fishing. Most of us are relative beginners but with an added enthusiasm as compensation. Here we are storing our experiences that we pick up with us in our journey into our future adventures.
On weekends and evenings are the families and friends uel picnic at the shooting range, down the pass and put out salt licks, fish and sleeping in shelters and hunt in various forms. Maybe not quite as normal as any other Svensson's out there in our country!
