Nuclear e learning safety authorities in the United States (NRC) announced Tuesday the launch of a mission to central inspection of Oyster Creek, the oldest in the country, e learning which was triggered by the passage of Hurricane alert procedure Sandy, in late October, reports AFP . In a statement, NRC explains that three of its investigators working in this office located in New Jersey (East) "in response to questions raised by the impact of Hurricane Sandy" the area. Torrential rains that accompanied e learning Hurricane raised the water level beyond the threshold used in the reactor cooling structure, causing the operator to declare Exelon alert for two days. The reactor was decommissioned at the time due to maintenance works. According to the NRC, some elements "deserves a thorough examination", in particular the supervision of the cooling water level in the structure. Mission findings will be published in the coming weeks, according to the NRC press release. Built in 1969, Central Oyster Creek is the oldest in the United States and will shut down in 2019. Hurricane Sandy led also stopped three nuclear reactors north-east, the region most affected by the weather.
